GSRC Yard Run COVID-19 Challenge

Gaborone Striders Runners Club is running a virtual run/walk challenge on 3 May 2020 whose aim is to join the nation in raising funds towards the COVID-19 relief efforts. The challenge is to be run from within our homesteads as we observe the Government’s laws of the current ongoing lockdown.  This challenge is also a build up to the club’s 10x10 Challenge which takes place at the end of the year.

GSRC Yard Run COVID-19 Challenge

Full Marathon: 4 x 10.55km over 24hrs
Half marathon: 2 x 10.55km over 24hrs
10K: 1 x 10.55km over 24hrs
5K: 1 x 5km over 24hrs

Challenge Rules:

1. The challenge is a 24hr running challenge run on 3 May 2020.

2. The challenge can be run from any location (but limited strictly to your home, as per the COVID-19 rules) but is monitored by a single platform - Endomondo (

3. All participants will be expected to create an account on the chosen technology (monitoring app). We will offer step by step guidance if required. Email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for any support required.

4. All runs should be GPS tracked (for clarity this means that no one can add a manual run and have it count as part of the challenge, the tracking application will not accept it).

5. All participants will start the race on the same date, but may choose their own running times.

6. All participants are encouraged to stream or record and share their victory laps on our social pages, hashtagging #GSRCYardRuns #DoYourFairShare

7. Participants are encouraged to run in their previous GSRC 10x10 Challenge or Club 60 events shirts and the grand finale in their respective club shirts.

8. Each run leg is a minimum 10.55 km run and must be covered in one single run/walk (within your yard) and shall not count if submitted in split in parts (e.g. 5km in the morning and 5.55km in the evening).

9. Non submissions (synchronisation to the app within the 24hr period) of the runs shall result in instant disqualification. Deadline for submission of results is 23:59:59hrs on 3 May 2020.

10. No substitute runners are allowed.

11. Strict adherence to the challenge rules and instructions is expected from all participants

12. The challenge is open to members of Gaborone Striders and those of the public and entries will be accepted on a first come first serve basis.

13. Run, Walks and Treadmill running will be accepted
